Here is Body mass index calculator for male and female. BMI (body mass index) is the index of the body to mass ratio that tells whether someone is underweight, normal weight, overweight or obese. BMI for male and female is calculated by dividing their weights (Kgs) by the square of their height (meters). Obesity in western societies was the reason behind these indexes for body fat calculation and body mass calculation. The unit for BMI is kg/m2 resulting from the formula mentioned above. It is widely used for the classification of patients whether they are thick or thin which allow the health professional to discuss weight issues more easily. For these people, the current values suggestions are: a BMI from 18.5 up to 25 kg/m2 may show ideal weight, a BMI lower than 18.5 recommends the individual is underweight, a number from 25 up to 30 may demonstrate the individual is overweight, and a number of 30 upwards recommends the individual is obese.
